Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake Dam
The Canyon Lake Dam was constructed to serve two purposes - flood control and water conservation. The construction of Canyon Dam on the edge of the Balcones Escarpment has been very effective in protecting the lower Guadalupe River Basin. The top of the Dam is a great place to walk or jog; everyday you will see several people exercising and taking in the fresh lake air.

Natural Bridge Caverns

Natural Bridge Caverns is so much more than one of the most treasured natural attractions Texas has to offer. This beautiful and historical cavern system offers an experience that is high energy, educational, fun and family oriented. Whether you are a first timer, an avid caver or someone in between, Natural Bridge Caverns awaits with a once in a lifetime experience you'll never forget.

Lake Canyon Yacht Club - Racing

The club's amenities include a 144 slip waterfront with ample docking space for dry sailed boats and visitors participating in regattas, a two lane launching ramp, dry storage for over 150 boats, a clubhouse with a party deck, swimming pool and a boat rigging tower for stepping and unstepping masts. The club has just over 300 members. The Lake Canyon Yacht Club supports an active racing program which includes J-22, Catalina 22, Flying Scot, Sunfish, PHRF and Portsmouth fleets.

Canyon Lake Golf Club
Tucked away in the peaceful community of Canyon Lake, this par-72 golf course boasts well-manicured fairways accented with rolling hills, live oak trees, and a lovely view of the lake. Several holes have been completely redesigned to challenge even the most avid golfer. New cart paths allow a smooth flow of traffic, while also preserving the fairway.

Canyon Lake Recreation Center "CRRC" sponsors a number of activities for senior citizens of the Canyon Lake area.

New Braunfels is located between San Antonio and Austin, and within 25 miles from Canyon Lake. One may visit the river, antiques stores, outlet malls, Hummel Museum, Landa Park (one of many), also you will find great food ranging from German to TexMex. www.nbcham.org

San Marcos is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in North America. Native Americans lived on the bountiful banks of the spring-fed San Marcos River as long as 12,000 years ago. Blanco is 20 miles from Canyon Lake. Blanco has a rich historical history. Visit the famous Old Blanco County Courthouse, the Blanco State Park, the Blanco river or the shops, galleries and restaurants. www.blancotex.com

Fredericksburg is 70 miles from Canyon Lake, and is really a fine old German town. Catering to the tourist with nice restaurants, antiques and craft shops. Fredericksburg has plenty of local attractions like the Admiral Nimitz Museum, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. Also you can visit the Wild seed Farms Market Center and see Bluebonnets, poppies and many other species, located 7 miles east of Fredericksburg. www.fredericksburg-texas.com

Johnson City is 40 miles north of Canyon Lake on Highway 281, and is the boyhood home of Lyndon B. Johnson, our former President, where you will find his boyhood home, LBJ Ranch and many other local sites. www.lbjcountry.com

Luckenbach is located 48 miles from Canyon Lake, and is host to the annual July 4th, Willie Nelson Concert. Everyone wants to come to Luckenbach and many do. Some folks have a little trouble locating that little town so we're going to write out the directions so you can't miss it.
How to find Luckenbach:From Blanco, go west on RR 1623 until you pass the Riverside beer joint, then turn left on RR 1888. follow RR 1888 until you come to RR 1376, turn right, go down the hill, up the hill, cross the creek with water in it [most of the time] and turn left on the first paved road. Marble Falls is approximately 60 miles from Canyon Lake. A Texas treasure of (5) Highland Lakes, (7) golf courses, The Bluebonnet Trail, State Parks, The Colorado River Trail, great shopping and dining and home to 5,200 of Texans. www.marblefalls.org
